Manual inspection can be effective for low-volume work, but it becomes difficult to keep consistent as production speed, product variety and documentation requirements increase.

A machine-vision project should start with the defect or characteristic that must be detected, not with the camera model. Detect missing features, contamination, damage, surface anomalies or assembly defects where the visual contrast is measurable and repeatable.

OCR & code verification

Read printed text, dates, serial numbers, barcodes and 2D codes and compare them with production requirements.

Quality control needs repeatability

Vision systems are most successful when the product presentation is controlled. Changes in lighting, background, reflections, vibration, position or product variants can affect image quality. These factors must be considered as part of the machine design.

For existing lines, the integration may include new guarding, triggers, encoders, fixtures, reject devices, PLC logic, HMI screens or traceability links.
